Our environment gets more toxic every day
"The human environment is toxic. We are exposed to an unprecedented number of chemicals, and there are more than eighty thousand industrial chemicals in the world today. The effects of these toxins are hidden, cumulative and often irreversible." - Dr. Devra Davis
Our environment is becoming increasingly toxic as a result of the pollution we create every day. The air that we breathe, the water that we drink and even the food that we eat has toxins in it.
The most common type of toxin you'll find in our environment is chemical toxins from industrial processes such as manufacturing or waste disposal. These toxins can be found in everything from plastic bottles to carpets to household cleaners. Other sources of environmental toxicity include radiation from nuclear power plants, cell phones and pesticides.
It’s a fact that the environment we live in has a significant impact on our health. However, we might not be able to do much about the air, water or food that we consume. But there are some things that you can do to detoxify your body and protect your health from these toxins.
Some of these ways include:
1. Use a water filter
The quality of water has declined in recent decades. There are many sources of pollution, such as industrial waste, agricultural runoff, mining wastewater, urban stormwater runoff, and oil spills. In addition to these sources, there are also natural sources such as lead pipes or copper pipes that had lead in them years ago (especially if you live in an older home) that can enter the water supply when they corrode or decay over time. All of these factors contribute to our water being less healthy and clean. Using a water filter will help remove these substances and provide you with healthier water.
2. Eat certified organic foods
The main reason why it is so important to eat organic products is that they contain fewer toxins and many more nutrients than non-organic foods. This is because organic foods are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms or ionizing radiation.
3. Use natural cleaning products in your house
We often don't think of our cleaning products when we think of toxins in our environment because we think they help eliminate bacteria and dirt. However, non-organic cleaning products can be dangerous to our health and also to our environment. Organic cleaning products, on the other hand, are made from natural ingredients and do not contain toxins or harsh chemicals.
4. Be aware of your personal care products (Shampoo, Soap, Make-Up, Fragrances…)
We need to be aware of the personal care products that we are using. They have a major impact on our health and wellbeing. Some of these products are not as healthy as they seem, while others contain toxic chemicals that can cause damage to our bodies. Organic products are a good alternative to chemical-based products because they don't contain any artificial ingredients or toxins. They do not contain any synthetic fragrances which means the user will have less exposure to harmful chemicals. The best way to find out if a product is safe is by reading its label and looking for the following: parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, alcohols, formaldehyde releasers, and fragrances with phenoxyethanol or ethanolamine.
5. Move Your Body & Get Sweaty
A good way to get rid of toxins is to remove them from the body through the sweat glands. Sweating provides the body with an excellent way to eliminate toxins. You can make the body sweat in different ways, such as exercising, taking a hot bath or visiting an infrared sauna. The great advantage of infrared light is that it penetrates deep under the skin and activates the cells to eliminate the toxins. This is also the reason why people with heavy metal poisoning often go to the infrared sauna to get these substances out of the body.
